Ronny Chieng

Ronny Xin Yi Chieng born 21 November, 1985. Non-primary source needed is a Malaysian actor and comedian. Chieng is currently a senior correspondent on The Daily Show on Comedy Central and creator and star of the sitcom Ronny Chieng International Student which began airing on ABC (Australia) and Comedy Central Asia in 2017. Chieng was the son of an Malaysian Chinese family. He was born in Johor Bahru. From 1989 until 1994, he was living in Manchester in New Hampshire. Chieng was a performer with Trevor Noah in 2013 at the Comedy Festival in Melbourne, Australia. Chieng was then asked to take on the role of Noah's Daily Show two years later. He was named among the top 10 comics to watch by Variety in July 2016. In October of 2016, Chieng appeared as a guest on The Daily Show to respond to a Jesse Watts Fox News segment that many thought was racist. Chieng aired an expletive-laden criticism of the conservative network's segment. He also visited NewYork City's Chinatown where Watters had mocked residents. The viral video garnered attention in Slate as well as the Washington Post. In his young years, Chieng was an Singapore Sea Scout. While he's been living in Australia for more than 10 years, he does not have permanent residency or citizenship status in Australia. Chieng laughed in 2018 when he said there was a phobia of cynophobia, however, he later said that he was 100 % not scared of dogs.
